Hello to all our new (and existing) students at the University of Sydney!

If you’re taking up a foreign language this semester, you may or may not know that there is a language library specifically catered to help you with your studies.

The AV Language Library is located in the Brennan MacCallum Building (A18, Level 2) and comprises of the Library as well as the Self Study room.  Do note that this is a closed-access library; thus no resources can be borrowed out.

Opening Hours

AV Language Library –> Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays (8.00 am – 4.00 pm)

Self Study room –> Mondays – Fridays (8.00 am – 6.00 pm).

So what’s in it for me?

  • You can watch foreign films from any of the computers in the Self Study room;
  • You can watch live satellite TV in French, German, and Arabic;
  • You can study the language of your choice from a range of AV materials and books available;
  • You can use our fun & interactive CDs (e.g. Talk Now, World Talk, and Rosetta Stone) to learn a new language; and
  • You can listen, record, and practice your pronunciation using Language Player, a state-of-the-art software.

Spread the word around that there is a Library blog specifically aimed at students studying a foreign language whilst here at Sydney Uni.

For more info, please visit our webpage to download our Brochure, ‘Like’ us on Facebook, or simply pop by to say hi!   Let me know (via comments in this blog, or via my Facebook profile or even our Facebook Page) what you’d like to see more of in this blog or on our Facebook page.

Wishing all a good semester ahead, and have a fun time whilst studying at Sydney Uni! :)
