Movie Talk Advanced – Spanish

Would you like to take your Spanish to a higher level?  Well, you can do so now from the computers in the Self-Study room!

Watch full-screen video and play games and exercises that make you remember what you’ve seen and learnt.  Star in one of your favourite videos by joining in the action by recording your voice into the movie;  search for any word used in the script, or compete in a quick-fire TV Quiz.

Movie Talk – Spanish teaches you to understand the language at the speed it’s really spoken using a full-length movie with the flexibility to browse and repeat complex phrases. Watch the show, then take your learning a step further with addictive games.

Master your level of Spanish while helping Mario and Elena build a new life in the hugely popular Spanish TV series Querido Maestro.

Watch the whole video with subtitles, or sit back and enjoy it full-screen:

  • Follow the movie line-by-line in the script.
  • Search for any word in the script.
  • Record your voice as one of the actors in the film.
  • Games and activities help your vocabulary, spelling and comprehension.
  • Print a certificate when your score is high enough.

World Talk

Want to build up on your language skills?

If the language you’re learning is good enough to follow basic conversations, but you still need to practice, WorldTalk is for you.  This program targets the intermediate level language learner.

Features include:

A TV-style quiz show: you can play against a resident champion – depicted in entertaining video sequences – or in a one-to-one match with a hilarious on-screen opponent (see screenshot above).

Play interactive language games and earn points for every game you play. High scorers can go on to win bronze, silver and gold awards, which you can print out as a record of achievement.

Speak and write in your chosen language. Record yourself and compare your pronunciation with a native speaker, then test your written language skills with four dictation exercises.

You’ll soon start to think in the language you’re learning!  World Talk is an ‘immersive’ experience: in this program you will only hear your chosen language.  You’ll learn to associate the language with memorable images – not just the equivalent words in your own language.  This means you’ll start thinking in your chosen language, which will make you quicker at understanding and recalling words.

Play a game on television against Yiannis! Click on one of the three possible answers after you hear the question from the announcer. Yiannis isn’t such a good sport; he whoops it up when he wins, and scowls when he loses or you get the correct response. But, hey, it’s only a game!
